....
To : Denise, I'll post a picture of myself in the 'off-shoulder' top soon. Most probably tommorrow Ok? Ok. I'm currently in the school library, waiting for Johnson and Sam. Gonna go for this Christian Fellowship thingy, and see how it is like. And also go for squash later. I'm freezingly cold (for the first time) and I can't stop sneezing. I'm goona be SICK soon, snif snif... I'm gonna blog about.... IS BEING FAT A CRIME ? Firstly, I would like to share about: What is fat? Fats consist of a wide group of compounds that are generally soluble in organic solvents and largely insoluble in water. Fats may be either solid or liquid at normal room temperature, depending on their structure and composition. Although the words "oils", "fats" and "lipids" are all used to refer to fats, "oils" is usually used to refer to fats that are liquids at normal room temperature, while "fats" is usually used to refer to fats that are solids at normal room temperature. "Lipids" is used to refer to both liquid and solid fats. Fats also play a vital role in maintaining healthy skin and hair, insulating body organs against shock, maintaining body temperature, and promoting healthy cell function. They also serve as energy stores for the body. Fats are broken down in the body to release glycerol and free fatty acids. The glycerol can be converted to glucose by the liver and thus used as a source of energy. The fatty acids are a good source of energy for many tissues, especially heart and skeletal muscle. One thing that I hate about the society is why are all fat girls being OUTCAST? Ok, maybe not in the states, but in singapore! Why are fat girls being look down? It's is really very "saddening". One of the TV programmes "Get Real" hosted by Diana, proves that Singaporeans really "outcast" women who are fat. She posed as a fat lady and enter a boutique, and guess what, she is being rejected by the sales person instantly. And it did happened to me once. I wanted to try this 'flimsy' top, and the shop "auntie" told me right at my face "you don't have to try" and her tone was like "you don't spoil my clothes". I mean she could have said nicely. Another inccident happened to my friend. She told me that when she entered a shop, and particularly look at a dress, the sales girl would stare at her, and in order to avoid stares, she has to divert their attention by saying something to her friend, like "Hey, you wanna try this dress?" What is this? Fat girls also have the right to look at nice clothings. And what that maddens me is that most of the jerks in Singapore likes slim girls. And they usually classify fat girls as "ugly, stupid, and alot of nasty stuff". But why? Is being fat really a crime? And because of these, girls try every means to be slim. By throwing up? By binding their stomache? And also staving themselves? And usually not ONLY guys are the ones who laugh at fat girls, slim girls also mock at them. An example happened on a girl in the bus. She was sitting opposite a young couple. And THEY were whispering, mocking and laughing at her. This is really incorrigible. I can't believe there are such mean people in Singapore. This does not happened only on bus, I'm sure Singaporeans would give them weird stares anywhere and everywhere. But, sometimes it is not that fat people wanted to be fat. Sometimes, it's in their genes. They must have tried very hard to lose weight, but without motivation, how can they go on? With people commenting on how fat they are, how can they go on? It happens to me sometimes. It's like I have the motivation to do exercises, but with people constantly saying, "aiyo, u so fat now. Hopeless la", or "laughing/whisperings", how do you think I may feel and how I would react. I'll most probably give up and said to myself "Since I'm alrdy fat, then i'll just eat more". What I'm trying to say that, treat fat girls as normal girls, especially at this tender age of 18. It may really hurt them to an extend to do silly things. But I won't 'la' cause I can picture myself becoming slimmer. Muahaha, no 'la'. I mean, just don't laugh or mock at them, I'm sure every fat girl will slim down one day. Cheers :) |
